Our story

Jamie and Diane created Hidden Cabin in 2000 after many years spent creating textiles for fashion and home deco. Jamie, from Scotland, and Diane, an American of Norwegian descent, live in an old farmhouse in the South of France with their 4 children and 2 Labradors.

Jamie and Diane express in their collection their love for everything natural, simple and real. The “hidden cabin” really does exist in their minds, and whether or not an article has its place in the cabin is the true decider for what does or does not belong in the collection. The hidden cabin is an old wooden cabin by the lake, where childhood holidays were spent with grandparents, cousins, uncles and aunts. In this cabin are things which have been there, it seems, forever – an old fishing rod, a leather stool, the old hat that once belonged to great uncle Charlie (famous for his fondness for island whiskey), or a beautifully ancient leather jacket with holes in the elbows that nobody can bring themselves to throw away. All of these things have the precious patina of a long family life: well used and well loved by many generations. They all have the Cabin spirit.

Our Shirt Jacket was – still is - a great success, and soon friends and clients (often the same thing here at the Cabin) are asking for more clothes. Well, it was a lot of work but definitely worth the effort. The first Hidden Cabin menswear collection is created! Classic styles and cuts, simple and relaxed. We don’t do “fashion”. We make great clothes. It is Hidden Cabin’s aim to bring you simple clothes that are easy to wear, but in fabrics and materials which have been carefully thought out and created to be the best ever. Each textile is special. The colours and finishes are all worked on to make the garment beautiful. And because we sell directly to you through our website, or in our shops, the end price is very good.

A Swiss client of ours wears the Shirt Jacket for every one of his important business meetings where he is surrounded by power players in suits and ties. He says it gives him power because he dares. That is the Cabin spirit: freedom, adventure, strength. Vive l’aventure !
